Wednesday 20th of May 2009
There was an increase in the number of international departures from Brazilian airports in April, 2009, according to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). April saw a 3.5 percent increase in international flights when compared to the same period in 2008. The number of passengers per flight also went up slightly as well..
The two main airlines in Brazil are TAM and Gol, and together they capture most of the international flight market. TAM is the largest airline in the country, and it has some 86 percent of the international market from Brazil. The two airlines also make up nearly 88 percent of the domestic Brazilian airline market, when looking at total passenger kilometers flown. Domestic departures were up in April as well, by 2 percent according to ANAC.
