One of the smallest states in Brazil, Paraiba sits on the easternmost tip of the country. The population is 3.5 million people, with 650,000 of these in the capital city of Joao Passoa. This is truly one of the last undiscovered places in this country of beaches and is a great place for international investors to obtain inexpensive property that will only increase in value. The tropical climate and location near the ocean make this state a very desirable place to be.

The economy of Paraiba is based around agricultural products such as sugarcane and pineapples, cattle and leather products. Tourism is quickly becoming important as more and more visitors discover the beaches along the coast here. Joao Passoa is one of the oldest cities in the country, having been founded in 1585 at the mouth of the Paraiba River. One of the nicest areas to visit is the natural pools of Picãozinho on the island of Areia Vermelha.

The city of Joao Pessoa has a number of beaches and areas that are good places to look for property. The Cabo Branco is the most exclusive area of the city, and has both new and existing properties available for sale. Tambau is just north of Cabo Branco while Penha is south. These areas of the city have spectacular beaches and are popular for visitors. They are becoming increasingly developed, but there is still a lot of property available at great prices.

Getting to this state is becoming easier with the airport going international recently. The Castro Pinto Airport (JPA) is located east of the city in Bayeux. The airport has international charter flights that come into it and many flights to Brazilian cities. There are regular flights to and from Rio de Janiero, which is the easiest way to get here. You can also fly through Recife, which is only about 20 minutes by air.
